Twig’s Traveling Tomes is a cozy romantasy and a love letter to all things bookish. It completely swept me off my feet from page one.

I love a magic bookstore, and that was one of the main things that got me to request this ARC. You can never go wrong with a witch who loves books. It took me right back to some of my favorite cozy fantasy reads. And the magical doorknobs that serve as a transportation device? It instantly took me back to watching Howl’s Moving Castle, one of my favorite movies of all time.

The humour in this book had me hooked immediately. I felt a kinship with Twig right away, the way she reacts to things is just so real. And Everett charmed me instantly. Honestly these two reminded me of the characters from Stay for a Spell by Amy Combee, which was one of my absolute favorite reads this year!

Found family too? Sign me up! I love the vibes of this whole book, the adventure, the way these characters feel like they have full, lived-in lives, some connected from the past, some brand new. It just works. The pacing too is chef’s kiss. So much happens in such a short amount of time, but it never once feels rushed. There are so many kingdoms and people to meet, and every single chapter felt like an exciting read!

I also loved the inclusion of queer characters so naturally throughout, absolutely delighted by this little family.

A little detail I adored: the chapter names are quotes from books within this world, and they connect to what’s about to happen in the story. I laughed out loud at some of them. Just incredibly charming.

No spoilers, but there’s one particular chapter with sirens that is, without a doubt, one of my absolute favorites.

I found myself laughing out loud at the humorous parts and downright giggling at the romance. I’ve genuinely never felt so satisfied with a romance in a fantasy book quite like this one. I wish I could see so much more of these characters!

If you’re a fan of Howl’s Moving Castle, The Spellshop, or Stay For A Spell, run, don’t walk to read this book. It’s absolute magic.
